Cupcake Bar: SXSWeet!

Cupcake Bar: SXSWeet!

Greetings Cupcakers, Well, we did it! The Cupcake Bar had a blast during SXSW. We worked hard and played harder! The great City of Austin just let out a collective sigh with the passing of SXSW, and we’re right there with them. So much fun, but boy, are we tired!

We started the festival off with a really great interactive event hosted by the Dell Entrepreneurs group at the stunning and brand new JW Marriott Hotel. Folks, if you haven’t been to this hotel, you absolutely must! Gorgeous design and world class service. The event was women focused: women hosted the event, women gave inspiring speeches, women served delicious cupcakes (The Cupcake Bar, obviously), and women (and a few men) filled the room wall to wall! It was such a great pleasure to meet so many inspiring females from all over the world come together to talk about women in business, engineering, and technology! Woo Hoo, this one’s for the ladies! #BizWomen.

Next, our friends at Media Temple set us up with VIP passes to see Ludacris, TV on the Radio, and Z-Trip at Stubb’s BBQ. Such a blast! We sure hope our friends at Media Temple enjoyed their time in Austin, and of course, we hope we were able to make their time here just a bit sweeter *wink, wink.

So, you’re probably thinking we’re spoiled rotten right about now, but we’re just getting warmed up! Next, we got to see live tapings of Jimmy Kimmel Live two days in a row! Jimmy Kimmel and his faithful sidekick, Guillermo, ate their way through Austin, TX, gorging on BBQ, Tex-Mex and all the food trailer grub they could get their hands on. They made a pound for pound pledge to Urban Roots— every pound Guillermo gained while in our great city equaled a donation to this great cause. The Cupcake Bar helped out by delivering a dozen cupcakes to dear Guillermo, each one decked out with “Flat Guillermo” decorations—and get this: he Instagramed about us!! Dying!

Not done yet—do we have any Rachael Ray fans in the house? The Cupcake Bar is one of her biggest, so we couldn’t pass on the Rachael Ray Feedback House. A tradition for the last 8 years of SXSWs, Rachael’s Feedback House has become something of an institution to the festival. We had a nice time relaxing at the Feedback House (and of course we couldn’t resist bringing the team some sweets to get them through the SXSW). Saturday, the last day of SX, we celebrated with a proper closing ceremony at Stubb’s BBQ! We saw some killer musicians, sipped a few drinks, and got to eat some delectable Rachael Ray and Austin, TX inspired cuisine. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros headlined the show, and put on a great performance! We got there when doors opened and stayed until the end, then zipped back over to the Feedback House for more good times! Thanks Rachael Ray and team! You did it again! It was an awesome time, as always!

We can't wait to do it all again next year! Don't forget to book The Cupcake Bar for SXSW events next year!
