The South By South West conference always leaves it's mark on the City of Austin, and this year was no exception. Folks are always trying to come up with newer, bigger, badder ways to grab the attention of festival goers and this year, Bakespace.com takes the cake-- err, S'more. The Cupcake Bar is all about an interactive experience so when we heard Bakesspace.com's idea for an interactive S'mores Bar during the interactive portion of the conference, we were thrilled to join in on the fun! This awesome event, appropriately titled #SXSMORES was held at the legendary Allan House on a beautiful early spring day.
First, we had the help of some really great sponsors including Hershey's Chocolate and Campfire Marshmallows, who so generously donated two key ingredients in making a delicious S'more. Hershey's hooked us up with cookies n creme, milk chocolate and special dark chocolate--guests had a hard time deciding which one to add to their S'mores so many went back for seconds. Campfire donated so many different kinds of Marshmallows! Did you know they have Ghostbuster shaped marshmallows? How about lemonade flavor (which, by the way, make a fantastic S'more when combined with white chocolate)? And did you know that there are marshmallows out there that take 4 whole bites to eat!?! We'll we know it now thanks to wide variety of marshmallows donated by Campfire!
Marshmallows? Check. Chocolate? Check. Graham crackers? Check. Bacon? Wait--bacon?!?! Yes, that's right. Bacon. Candied Chipotle Bacon. We did that.
We also teamed up with Martin's Famous Potato Roll who donated an entire palette of their soft and delicious sandwich bread! Bakespace.com created a really wonderful recipe for open-face S'mores that included hot-griddled Martin's potato sandwich bread, a dab of peanut butter, crunchy salted pretzels, classic Campfire Marshmallows, and Hershey's Milk Chocolate in all it's gooey glory. The crew from Martin's could not have been more generous--they were so kind and such a joy to work with, and quite frankly had the best SXSW swag we've ever seen! They were handing out tiny potato roll stress balls!
Other vendors that made this day so special included GoodPop and Chameleon Cold-brew Coffee, who came in strong with innovative S'mores recipes. Dry Sparkling provided some crisp, delicious beverages to wash down all the sugary s'mores goodness!
