Thank you, Superheroes: Frontline Workers and First Responders

Thank you, Superheroes: Frontline Workers and First Responders

A lot has changed in as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, including the image that comes to mind when we think about what superheroes look like. Instead of capes, they’re wearing scrubs or uniforms. Instead of leaping tall buildings in a single bound, they’re constantly on their feet, working overtime to ensure our health and safety. (They are still wearing masks--except maybe a different kind.)

What remains the same, though, are the traits that these superheroes embody: unwavering courage, a willingness to serve others, and a commitment to doing what’s right. The love we have for our local superheroes is big, y’all, and we’re honored to be able to spread some sweetness to first responders and frontline workers during these difficult times.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve worked with businesses and organizations in Austin to give back to our hardworking neighbors. Through Keep Austin Eatin’s #Food4Caregivers campaign, we delivered our cupcakes to two Baylor Scott & White locations. Cirrus Logic, a local tech company, wanted to honor local first responders, so we brought our cupcakes to various fire stations, police stations, and hospitals around town. We want to thank these organizations for supporting local businesses as well as the people working on the front lines!

And we’re excited to be partnering with Keep Austin Eatin’ once again to support local medical professionals. On May 12th, which is the overlap of National Nurses Week and Hospital’s Week, we’ll be providing cupcakes to hospital workers at Baylor Scott & White in Austin. That day is also Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. She is considered “The Mother of Nursing” and paved the way for today’s modern hospitals and professional nursing as a career. This time, we’ll be sponsored by The Coop Club, a group of Cooper Wine Company Club Members. They raised $400 during a virtual wine tasting to fund the delivery, and we’re beyond humbled by their generosity.

We know our frontline workers and first responders have sacrificed greatly to keep our community safe and healthy, and we could never fully thank them for protecting us. We can, however, try to make their day a little brighter with a delivery of sweet treats! (And don’t forget—National Nurses’ Week is May 6-May 12.)
