Here at The Cupcake Bar, we take three things very seriously: celebrations, sweets, and safety. We’ve got big love for our community, and we want to do all we can to keep our clients and staff safe and smiling!
Our community’s health has always been important to us (every member of our staff must hold a valid food handler’s certification), but we’ve recently implemented some extra safety precautions in our shop and at events. Whether we’re serving guests in person, creating delicious desserts for pickup, or delivering treats to doorsteps, the health of our clients and staff members remains a top priority. Take a look at what we’re doing at The Cupcake Bar to help to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Safety Guidelines/Precautions at The Cupcake Bar HQ:
Our staff members (and all visitors) must wear their masks at all times while inside the shop. Each member of our staff self-monitors for symptoms and conducts a daily temperature check upon entering our facility. Our employees wash their hands before touching any supplies or food products. In addition, we wash and sanitize our hands and food surfaces frequently throughout the day. Our goal is also to maintain 6’ distance from each other in our office space.
Safety Guidelines/Precautions for Delivery & Pickup:
All of our orders for pickup and delivery are contactless by default. In addition, all staff members will have conducted a temperature check before being allowed to hand off or deliver orders.
For pickup orders, we ask that our customers text or call us when they arrive at our shop. We’ll bring their treats out to their car and place them in the back seat or trunk. Easy peasy! (And of course, we’ll be wearing masks and will wash our hands after handing off every order.)
For delivery orders, our drivers will text each recipient before and after their sweets are delivered. We’ll be wearing masks as we approach the doorstep, and we request that recipients wait until we’ve returned to our car before retrieving their delivery. Our drivers will sanitize their hands after completing each delivery, too.
Safety Guidelines/Precautions at in-person events:
Our Cupcake Bartenders are following local guidelines and complying with city-wide health ordinances. They will have been self-monitoring for symptoms in the days prior to working an event. When they arrive at our HQ on the day of the event, they’ll pass a temperature check and wash their hands before handling any of the supplies or food product that will be served.
Our Bartenders will wash or sanitize their hands upon arrival to the event venue. In addition, they’ll wash/sanitize their hands periodically throughout service. We’ll bring some hand sanitizer for our Bartenders to dispense to guests upon request.
Our Bartenders will wear a face shield or use a plexiglass partition during service. We’ll place our food products behind the partition (if applicable), and we ask that guests wear masks and maintain social distancing when visiting the Bar. To ensure the safety of everyone attending the event, we also request that guests not approach the side/back of the bar.
Here’s how you can help:
While we miss seeing you guys out and about around town, we know that doing our part to ensure our fellow Austinites stay safe and healthy is the best way to show our love for y’all right now.
We’re eager to get back to normal life, too, but in the meantime, there are lots of things we can do to help our loved ones and our community stay safe. In addition to educating ourselves on the CDC recommendations for how to slow the spread of COVID-19, we can lend a hand to our neighbors who might be struggling.
Looking for ways to help? Here are a few suggestions:
Check out the City of Austin’s Coronavirus webpage, which contains up-to-date information about testing and orders/rules, as well as other resources.
Give to or volunteer with the Central Texas Food Bank.
It’s no secret that many beloved small businesses are struggling. Help spread the word about your favorite local shop/business by posting a review on a crowd-sourced review site, such as Yelp or Google Reviews. You can also share their posts on social media.
The live events industry has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. The COVID-19 page published by the Austin chapter of the International Live Events Association (ILEA) contains information about grants, relief funds, and other resources available to help individuals and businesses who have been impacted by the health crisis.
