If you’re anything like us, you’re probably packing your schedule to soak up all the things. A little piece of advice from your fellow Austinites? We highly recommend carving out a little time to experience our city!

We’ve listed a few of our favorite things to do in the Downtown Austin area. Feel free to snag the list below and share with friends – you’ll surely become their favorite tour guide!

Experience Local Flavors

  • TacoDeli - A true staple in ATX! Try their Otto or Jess Special at their Congress location.
  • Veracruz All Natural - Known for their homemade tortillas and organic agua frescas! The nearest location to all things SXSW is in The Line Hotel on Cesar Chavez.
  • Cedar Door - Not only are you in for a treat with their noteworthy patio, but fun fact: they were the creator of Austin’s own Mexican Martini back in the 80s! Located on 2nd Street right across from the J.W. Marriott.

  • Tau Ceti - Named for a star, Tau Ceti by Josef Kristofoletti is a technicolor, multi-dimensional marvel. This is sure to be an epic photo op! Located at the corner of Brazos and Second Street.
  • The Beauty and Liberty of Equality - Coming in at 12 stories high, this mural is the largest in Austin, Texas and will forever live on the side of The Line Hotel. Perfect to visit in honor of Women's Month. Located at 111 East Cesar Chavez St.

Top Music Spots

  • Antone’s Nightclub - Established in 1975, this iconic blues venue has brought a variety of musicians, including B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and James Brown, to ATX over the last 40 years.
  • ACL Live - Holding around 100 concerts a year, this live music venue is best known for being the permanent home of the acclaimed KLRU-TV produced PBS series, Austin City Limits taping - which happens to be the longest running music series in American TV history.
  • Stubb’s - Where BBQ and live music collide! In the 1970′s, Stubb’s restaurant became the heart of an explosive music scene and a sought-after spot for musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lee Hooker, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and more.
  • Broken Spoke - Texas's most definitive dance hall, which has been an Austin tradition since 1964. It’s known for great live country music and good Texas cooking. Fun fact: it was featured on Queer Eye!
